Powerful, Torpedo shape; The pike is the top-Line predator in most Europeans fresh waters.
Pike live Solitary lives, hiding patiently well camouflaged in weed beds, Reeds and snags just waiting for an unsuspecting fish to come along just that little bit too close, With the Dorsal and Anal fins situated well back near the tail the Pike are built for sudden surges of speed propelling itself from Ambush with extreme speeds.
The prey fish have no chance between the jaws on a Pike, The upper part of a pike jaw is lined with countless tiny backward facing teeth. They take the prey sideways on and manouver the prey head first swallowing whole. Pike can swallow large prey so don't be scared of using big big baits.
All the largest Pike are all Female, Males do not grow anywhere near the size of Females just like The Tench.
