The Tench

Identification: Green flanks, Red eyes, Big paddle-like fins, 2 barbules on upper lip
Lifespan: 20 years
Habitat: Lakes, Gravel pits, Canals and rivers
Common Methods: Legering
Best Baits: Bread, Sweetcorn, Worms, Maggots and Casters.

Tench are very hardy fish and can live in very poor Oxygenated water, They are also very strong fighters.
It has a thick Olive-Green body red eyes, Tiny scales and a big paddle tail.
The largest Tench are all females anything over roughly 8lb will most likely be Female or a very big Male.
Pre-baiting is a very commonly used method with Tench and can result in a good Hauling of Tench.
