Set up a Jig in 6 steps!

It's very simple to set up a Jig, The 2 most important things to remember are to make sure the hook size and Jig fit well with your chosen lure, Possibly more important is to make sure you rig the lure central! If not then this will cause the action of the lure to not look natural.

Step 1:

First of all choose a Jig, to do this we need to look at the venue and mostly the water depth, The deeper the water the heavier Jig you will want to use to make sure that the jig is getting to the bottom. For this demonstration we will be fishing Canals. I have chosen a 3.5g Jig (Lighter could be used on Canals) . I have matched this with a Savage Gear 6cm Lure which the hook fits nicely, also take note that i have chosen a bright lure to help visability from the murky canal waters.

Step 2:

Line the hook along the side of the lure, this enables you to determine where to bring the hook point out.

Step 3:

Take not of where the hook ends and make a small nick in the back of the lure using the hook.

Step 4:

Start to slide the lure onto the Jig making sure to be and stay central ( this can be fifidly to start with especially with small lures)

Step 5:

Keep sliding the lure round until the hook point meets with the nick you made earlier, Now bring the hook point out the back of the lure again making sure to be central.

Step 6:

Make a cast! You're fishing!
